Can you tell us about your new album?
It’s an album about archiving within the body — immateriality. It is titled Blues Blood and features my long-standing quartet along with 4 vocalists and a few other instrumental guests.
What other projects are you currently involved with?
I’ve been spending a lot of time collaborating with Sidra Bell who is an amazing choreographer.
What are you currently listening to and what was the last CD or download you bought?
I like a lot of female rappers right now — Karrahbooo, Jaylanie, Ilham. Last music I bought was Micah Thomas’ new album Mountains.
What is your all-time favourite album and why?
My all-time favorite album is John Coltrane live at the Half Note.
Who has caught your attention recently that we should be listening out for?
Shala Miller / Freddie June. They make really amazing things.
