Can you tell us about your new album?
The new album is full of adventure, love, lost in paradise, feelings, truth, energy, trance. It is for me a mirror of what is happening in the world. Sometimes it is very soft, but it can develop like a storm. We only have 3 instruments. Tuba, Percussion and Saxophone. On 2 tracks we invited our Victor Hege friend on sousaphone. So, we have two bass players in two songs! The rest of the compositions are for the trio, except in one song is a solo where I sing and play the saxophone. Very intimate situation. For me was important not to hide. More to risk and to face my feelings and wishes. They were hidden for a long time, and this album is an explosion for me to discover. You can hear David Stauffacher on percussion, Jon Hansen on tuba and guest Victor Hege on sousaphone.
What other projects are you currently involved with?
My other music projects are: Solo (new album next year), the quartet Henry and my quintet Robin. Henry is inspired by New Orleans with trombone, saxophone, sousaphone and drums. Robin is more rhythm based with influences also from Cuba with two percussionists, piano, bass and saxophone.
What are you currently listening to and what was the last CD or download you bought?
I listen at the moment all the time to Lizzy McAlpine (singer), John Mayer, Quinito Mourelle, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
What is your all-time favourite album and why?
There are a few. John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, Joshua Redman’s Elastic Band, Maria Schneider’s Concert in the garden.
Who has caught your attention recently that we should be listening out for?
Lizzy McAlpine. She sings and her lyrics and her way of singing is so pure. I love her for that!
